Since I can remember, animals have held a very special place in my soul. I've volunteered at my local animal shelter for over 5 years. Unfortunately right now, physical ailments are limiting what I can and cannot do. Since I can't be hands on right now, I send positive energy and prayers for those who ARE helping the animals right now. From personal experience, I know it's emotionally draining and sometimes unthankful, work. So I never forget to pray for their endurance and for blessings to shower upon them. I've never met a human that can give unconditional love like so many of the animals I've come across in my life. Of course I've shared my home with many of them, but some I had to help through the shelter. Please donate to your local shelter blankets, food, newspapers and with other needs they have. Did you know that volunteering to walk a dog may keep it adoptable by helping it stay used to being around humans and being on a leash? I believe some people don't know that a short walk out of it's cage is much help, but it is! It's hard to pick which ones to walk sometimes, but my heart would always tell me which ones needed it the most on that day. I definitely believe in spay/neutering pets. There is not enough shelters in America to keep up with the unwanted/stray animals roaming free. Please help me help those who devote their lives to make the welfare of animals better. Check any of these links and you'll be able to find a way to help instantly.
I was a caregiver for a sister of mine who battled breast cancer. I put on "Chemo Shows" to help her not focus on the chemicals going into her body. It was definately one of the toughest "jobs" I've had. Right now she is cancer free, but as a survivor, helps bring awareness to people about this disease. These are just a few photos from that year. Please stay current on testing for breast cancer.
